PAVS Volunteering Awards Pembrokeshire

Congratulations! Llongyfarchiadau!

To Andy Buston The VC Gallery who won the #PembsVolAwards22 Mary Sigley Volunteering Award.
This award is presented where volunteering has made a difference to the life of the volunteer. Chris, from the VC Gallery collected the Award on behalf of Andy who could not attend the event. Cllr Neil Prior presented this Award.
Andy has been a volunteer and gallery member pretty much since the The VC Gallery began. He is flexible, adaptable and will undertake any task we ask. He is in the Gallery in Haverfordwest every day and takes the roll of gallery assistant. He will meet and greet people and answer the phone when the staff are busy. He helps with putting out the rubbish and helps pout with the general maintenance of the gallery.
Andy has gained in self-confidence and has been able to have a positive outlet in attending the gallery for his own wellbeing, as well as being able to give back to others. His positive outlook, sense of humour and can-do attitude means he is a positive role model to the others who come to the gallery.
The Nominator said, ‘Andy is reliable and consistent in his volunteering and is dependable. He is inspirational because nothing phases him and nothing is too much trouble, he has a great sense of humour which helps keep a positive environment.’

Congratulations! Llongyfarchiadau!

The VC Gallery Dig for Victory Volunteers
The Dig for Victory Volunteers have converted a former WW2 bunker site on the edge of the coastal path and turned it into a wonderful community asset. There is an allotment, for growing fruit vegetables and herbs, they are also constructing a peace garden. Other activities run by the group include target practice on a pellet rifle range, art and metal detecting classes. The volunteers have learned new skills in growing vegetables, landscaping, as well as sharing existing skills with others. Turning an unused piece of land into a vibrant area that local people and groups can come to and take part in the activities.

Congratulations! Llongyfarchiadau!
