"My name is Tim Phillips, aged 50. I am a Veteran of 23 years in The Army. I am married with 4 adult children. I have served in various parts of the world, moving my family around with me to some postings including Mainland UK & Germany to as far afield as Hong Kong, USA, and Canada, with 2 years served in Northern Ireland and 3, 6-month operational tours of Iraq completed.
"For me, being able to break down social isolation is very rewarding, being a veteran. Going into to care homes & community centres, holding breakfast clubs, etc., and meeting different veterans is very interesting. For the veterans who live independently within the community, I think they take comfort in knowing that there are other veterans locally out there who will listen, chat, and knowing that there is a support network and meetings with like-minded people available."
