After Rodan

Dave Owen

My mother was a fantastic artist and that's where I got my inspiration for art. I was a bit of a frustrated artist, so I went to college to do photography and did that for a while. I found I hated commercial photography so I parked up, moved to Italy with my then girlfriend. My favourite artist is Carrivago, a rock and roll star before his time. My inspiration for this picture is an art forger named Ernest Durig, who was an apprentice of Rodan's. He couldn't make any money selling his own pieces, so he forged some of Rodans work and that's what I would have wanted to be in another life, an art forger.
